The halfway point, the playoff picture, and ND

I watch tons of college football and have yet to watch more than 5 minutes of Stanford football. You are exactly right.

Don't worry, I watch enough Stanford football for the both of us....my son is applying there for admission next year and we're out here on the left coast so their late games are just dessert on Saturdays..

Franklin was never considered at Texas, so there was no choosing Strong over him.
I’ve read multiple places it was between Strong and Franklin. If it was the case we made the wrong choice. If we didn’t consider Franklin we made an error.

When it comes to the one spot available to a non P5 school what are the requirements? Obviously w/l record, but how high do they have to be ranked? You know right now Charlie Strong's South Florida team has the inside track on that spot. It's shaping up to a season final game against Central Florida for that spot. The winner of that game is in. I'm pulling for Coach Strong to run the table and get in that bowl game.

The irony if both Franklin and Strong end up in the playoffs. At 7-0 Strong has already won games than he ever did at Texas. At 3-4 Herman has already lost more games then he did at Houston. Charlie did a horrible job here though I'm also pulling for him. Even if he runs the table, he probably needs help to get in. If Bama-UGA meet undefeated in the SEC title game, the committee will put both in.

If OU were to run through the rest of our schedule which would include beating 2 more top 10 teams, then the trophy is Mayfield's imo
I appreciate your exuberance, bell but even you would have to admit some bias on your part.

Penn State needs to keep winning so it can be a fairy tell ending winning the heisman with everything that has happened at Penn State
Yes by all means , let's find a silver lining for Penn State after all they've "been through" rather than see a 2 time walk on win the Heisman. Keep in mind, JoePa chose death over the witness stand, so, there's that. I think Mayfield makes his claim this weekend and my Tech tard friends know what's coming. Mayfield would like nothing more than to put it on Kingsbury on his way to NY if OU wins out.

I also think OSU takes Penn State out this weekend. It'll be all on OSU's secondary because they will sell out to stop the run.

No doubt some bias but I try to be objective as well. If you had one game to play, what qb would you chose other than Mayfield to give you the best all around chance of winning? BTW I still really like Jackson a lot and wonder how really good he could be on a better team.

Mayfield's a baller. I don't have anything against him. I rib him because it makes you guys mad is all. I think you OU fans are going to be mad you didn't win it all with him to be honest.

Still, I can't get over that ISU loss at home. With their MLB playing QB. That's an ugly, ugly loss you continually gloss over. And if even if he does win out, all things remaining equal, I don't see him catching the Penn St kid (unless he stumbles).

I am pretty sure it’s just the highest ranked non power 5 team. The way it’s shaping up the UCF/USF game will be a play in game basically. Memphis could also be a player. UCF and USF are legit programs. With their recruiting bases and history I think they could be similar to TCU if they ever got in a major conference.

Did you really say Joepa choose to die over taking the stand? What goes on in your gooner head making him sound like a coward. Wow simply wow.
Tech blows just like ou so putting numbers up against tech won't help him much. Penn State running back will get his yards against tosu and this game could put him over the top and next weekend as well against Michigan State and then there is still the conference championship.

Oh you want to put that he is a walk on blah blah crap who cares there are many heart warming walk on stories.

You serious Clark? Yes, unfortunately I'm afraid you are. I'll tell you what, for a guy that was bragging on here the other day about inventing the internet and the word "sarcasm", you sure have a hard time grasping the concept of your own word. So why don't you go ahead and tell us about all of these heart warming stories about walk-on players who are also in contention for the Heisman and who btw have finished in the top 5 the last 2 years. This should be interesting.

What does being a two time walk on have to do with him being a better candidate than a scholarship player to win the heisman.

Not a thing. The poster I was responding to said there were plenty of other heart warming stories about walk-ons, which is probably true but are any of them in Heisman contention? No. Also the same poster tried to say it would be nice for the Penn State rb to win it after ALL Penn State has been through. Based on that criteria, which is absurd btw, I would argue that Mayfield, being a 2 time walk-on had been through more challenges. OU has to win out or this is all a moot point.

Probably not the best website if you're wanting a glowing report about $ooner players generally speaking. Maybe a main source of your frustration, bell. Just spitballing here.
