The left can't tolerate ideas that upset their contrived world view and must punish all who dissent. They support the player's free speech only because it advances their America is terrible racist nation narrative, identity politics 101.
The party of Antifa, PC codes, Academia, Hollywood, Climate Change orthodoxy, hate speech bans, rioters over conservative speakers, and the MSM absolutely hates free speech. They have a plan for America and they have no qualms about shredding our constitution to enact it.
A scholar withdraws article for making the case for colonialism after demands for retraction, to fire the journal editors, to fire and blacklist the author, and to revoke his PhD.
The piece in question appeared as a “Viewpoint” article, suggesting it was making unorthodox claims inviting a discussion or debate on its content. This, however, proved too much for the self-styled high priests of the academic discourse on colonialism (which in the current academy includes an enormous portion of the humanities). Astoundingly, calls to quash the blasphemous piece were made in the name of protecting those ‘marginalized’ in the academy from apparent closet white supremacists. The censors pretend not to realize that they rule.

I have asked The Third World Quarterly to remove my article "The Case for Colonialism." I regret the pain and anger that it has caused for many people. I hope that this action will allow a more civil and caring discussion on this important issue to take place

An almost identical leftist spasm occurred a couple of months ago when these academic brown shirts couldn't handle dissenting opinions. The ideas that they attacked are the very foundation of success in America, but amazingly now considered verboten on the left. She has been attacked by leftist all over the academic world.
On August 9, University of Pennsylvania law professor Amy Wax and University of San Diego law professor Larry Alexander published an op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer calling for a revival of the bourgeois values that characterized mid-century American life, including child-rearing within marriage, hard work, self-discipline on and off the job, and respect for authority. The late 1960s took aim at the bourgeois ethic, they say, encouraging an “antiauthoritarian, adolescent, wish-fulfillment ideal [of] sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll that was unworthy of, and unworkable for, a mature, prosperous adult societ
Some of Wax’s colleagues have engaged with her ideas without dialing the meter to eleven. But 33 members of the law faculty published a letter anathematizing her. While acknowledging the value of academic freedom (something the students and former students who denounced Wax specifically declined to do), they followed their denunciation with a gaudy non sequitur:
