I went to high school in the shitty town of Seguin, TX. We used to have keg parties way out in the country near the towns of Nixon and Smiley, which are only a few miles apart and have a consolidated ISD. They are commonly referred to each other together (hence the hyphen). Alright, no big deal right... au contraire, Pierre...

So I'm look at places to stay near Coral Cables in S. Florida and I see on the map a "Nixon Smiley Pineland Preserve" and I'm kinda confused... what the hell does Nixon-Smiley have to do with freaking South Florida? So I Google it and find out there was some old journalist chap in S. Florida who wrote a bunch of important pieces, most notably:
  • Knights of the Fourth Estate: The Story of the Miami Herald June 1984

So, I'm trying to piece this together. Is this just a coincidence or what? There's gotta be some linkage here right?
