@Ketchum want to hear your thoughts because you are a movie buff and brought this movie up in your 10TFTW. We watched Conclave last night.
Acting was phenomenal on all accounts and Feinnes needs to be in the running.
The story/movie was well done and really had us into it, but, I have to say that the twist at the end was unnecessary. I wasn’t so taken aback by what it was, just that the little extra was over the top. Too much. No issue with Benitez coming from nowhere (except that it wouldn’t have happened in a real Conclave..see below) or what the real twist was, it was just not needed as a combination.
One factual problem, Benitez would never have been allowed in the College of Cardinals. Popes can and have appointed Cardinals in pectore, but they can’t join the College unless the Pope reveals their names publicly before his death.
