The truth

Literally every group should be better. Save the DL.

QB Like one said, new scheme, new guy...and we still have the Swoopes/Heard combo that played last year who are both now a year older.

RB Two big powerful runners come back with a year more experience. We lost Gray, but he was hurt and struggled last year. You add in a few young talents.

WR We bring back top guys in Burt and Foreman and add in some beasts of talent in Johnson and Duvernay and others.

OL We pretty much return it all and add depth. 2 true frosh in Williams and Vahe were very good last year...add in another year and its a no brainer they should be better. Perkins moves back to his correct position. Added a ton of talent and depth too.

DL Here is where we took the biggest hit. Might be worse here.

LB Return it all. And all is a year older.

DB Return it all. And all is a year older.

K Get a stud transfer, had nothing here last year in struggles that cost us games.

P The rugby guy who played his first snaps of football, now has a year under his belt. Has a booming leg, surely he should be a better player now.

This isn't optimism. Not saying QB is going to be all world all of the sudden. Just that we will be better. Just like at every other position.

Back on topic, I know many of us Texas fans are quite optimistic. I think we should keep expectations in check but it is nice to see other fan bases and analyst high on the horns. I posted this elsewhere but 3 Bleacher Report analyst predicted our season at 9-3, 9-3, and 10-2 (Big 12 champs). This along with ESPNs Tom Luginbill predicting we win the Big 12 (as well as beat ND). Are we crazy to think we will see 9-10 wins this year, maybe, but we ain't the only crazy ones.

Has Phil Steele ever predicted Texas not to have a great season?

There is no doubt that Texas will be better this year. Strong is in year 3 and the talent has been upgraded. There have been some bumps the past 2 years but also some really good wins (OU and BU last year).

Even if Swoopes has significant playing time at QB he's got to be improved over what he has shown. He's a senior and has a lot of experience.
