12/19/1915- French singer and entertainer Edith Piaf is born in Paris. She is still regarded as one France’s most celebrated voices.
12/18/1929- Blind Lemon Jefferson, the “King of Texas Blues dies at 36 in Chicago.
12/19/1938- Chas Chandler, bassist of The Animals and later rcord producer and , was born in England. He also saw a young American session guitarist named Hendrix playing in NYC in ’66. When he and Jimi met up again in London, he got Jimi a bassist and a drummer and The Jimi Hendrix Experience was born.
12/17/1939- Eddie Kendricks, co-founder of The Temptations, is born in AL. He was one of the groups lead singers during their peak years until leaving in 1971, his falsetto voice was irrelacable.
12/19/1941- Maurice White, the songwriter and co-lead vocalist of Earth, Wind and Fire is born in Memphis.
12/18/1943- Keith Richards was born in Kent, England.
12/19/1945- The Hollies’ lead guitarist Tony Hicks is born in northern England.
12/20/1945- Peter Criss, the original drummer for Kiss, is born in Brooklyn.
12/21/1946- Carl Wilson was born in Hawthorne, Ca. He along with his 2 older brothers (Brain and Dennis) and their cousin, Mike Love, formed the Beach Boys in 1961. You know his voice.
12/20/1948- Musician, singer/songwriter and ace sound engineer Alan Parons is born in London. Before founding and fronting progressive Rock stalwarts that bore his name, he worked on albums for The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Hollies, Al Stewart and Wings.

12/19/1955- Carl Perkins records “Blue Suede Shoes” at Sam Phillip’s Sun Records in Memphis, a song that would help shape Rock as we know it.
12/19/1957- At his newly purchased Graceland home after an extensive touring schedule and while celebrating the Christmas holidays with family, 22-year-old Elvis Presley is served his draft notice by the Army. He would serve 2 years in the Army in all.

12/2//1959- Chuck Berry is arrested after a 14-year old Navajo girl he had under his “employ” at his St. Louis club reported him to Police. This was Berry’s 2nd Mann Act offense and he serve 20 months in jail.
12/22/1960- Rapper, Record Executive and leader of the controversial rap group 2 Live Crew, Luther “Luke Skywalker” Campbell is born in Miami.
