2/19/1940- One of music’s most gifted artists, William “Smokey “Robinson, is born in Detroit. He founded the vocal group The Miracles at age 15 and by age 20 begins producing and songwriting for the newly created Motown Records. He wrote hits for every one of their stars in addition to his own hits. By 1972 he was vice president of the label but returned to recording in the late 70’s into the 80's and found a second wind. He is arguably one of the greatest music talents America has ever produced.

At 20 years old he formed N.W.A (Niggaz With Attitude) along Eazy E, Ice Cude, MC Ren, Yell and D.O.C. He was responsible for all the recording and production elements of the group’s music in addition to his vocals. After a nasty dispute with Eazy and their label, Ruthless Records, Dre left in 1992.
