Digesting that game overnight you hope it is a game which you look back and say it was one of those days. There were several, crazy plays which went in their favor, and several which did not. They made some crazy plays, and missed some basic ones. We blew some plays, but made enough plays to win and were tremendously clutch, the kind of clutch which gets you to 12 wins and the final 4 teams for the second year(the only team in the country to do that). In the end, with this team, this QB, this kicker, these injuries, this Coach, just wait for the final bell then evaluate....

Has to start with QE. I have been a past critic of his limitations, and his positives. In the end, he is our guy. For me, no question he is throwing a different deep ball than when he is 100% healthy and it sure feels like a guy trying to not push it and aggravate his previous injuries. He is about as accurate a guy within 20 yards when he sets his feet in the game. He floats anything over 20 yards and has to release it early just about every time. That ends up a crapshoot for our receivers, a lot of incompletions but also a lot of PIs (thank goodness). Quinn is not a plus athlete with his feet, nor requires any spy. QE also has a little bit of Sam E in him which is he goes to sleep for sections of the game which we need to then rally from late to save the day. That said, we could do a lot worse. If he got healthy in the off season, and truly displayed the armstrength which overthrew many a receiver earlier in his career, he could land in a good draft slot. Right now he has pretty serious holes in his NFL package.

OL - This will be the key to whether we go any farther IMO. While many are out there save Williams, they are mostly banged up. While they may go, they are not the same OL we saw earlier this season. Holding out Williams, and getting 9 more healing days, could help their task in about 9 days.

Bond - We have no idea just how hurt he is. That said his straight line appears ton be there, his cuts or ability to break off routes looks limited. That said he does stretch the defense. Maybe 9 more days of treatments could add more wrinkles.

Our Defense. They just got wore out a bit due to the lack of balance in that first half. Taaffe picked a tough game to look more like a walk on than an AA. One or more games like that and he will likely be back next year due to a stock plunge.

Bert Auburn has had me nervous all year, I took some heat on here for calling it mid -season. Again, far from clairvoyant. That said, the guy is a crapshoot right now and about zero threat from outside 45 yards. On special teams, pretty amazing we are in the final 4 with these set of PK and Punter. Finally Kern drives a ball, of course it is a touchback....

The Human Joystick has shown flashes of quicks, but I was questioning his straight line game speed until yesterday. That was terrific.

J-Blue is going to have to get more touches if we are going to win either of the next 2 games. The other team DCs fear this, watch him get serious attention whereever he is on the field. If he leaves, we need to go get a tier 1 back in the portal regardless of our stockpile. I would get one anyway. Too many questions marks, not enough special.

Golden was not a super polished WR coming in from Houston. Deadly KO returner and deep threat coming in, but man, he is turning into one of those Quan Cosby, Devon D. type go to receivers anywhere on the field. Catching everything. (could work on his blocking). I hope he stays, not sure he will with the film he is putting together. Poster child for why you come to Texas for exposure.

We need to get the Michigan version of Will Howard next week, not the last two week version of Will Howard. They just have too many weapons to defend should he continue to throw dimes. They prolly win the Natty if he stays hot. That said, I love when we come in the underdog. We also could use a Texas version of their Michigan game with a balanced offense to keep both sides fresh.

Caleb Downs will likely make us wish we could have landed him in the off season.

Little things - That missed Blocked punt was crazy, how did he not get a piece of that ball. He got there early and seemed like he was thinking "now what"? (needed to go for the kicking foot)

Trash talking and nonsense aside, good to see Troy O out there and playing healthy. Prince D also looked much improved and grown up. They probably should have spent time interviewing those two guys before the game vs a pedestrian DE who I don't think posted a tackle.....

The Irony of QE facing his High School Rival and then his first college choice in the same playoff run....

Manny Mo Has an opportunity to regain his early season focus, and earn the money he evidently panned for late in the season. You are a target son, let's see if you can make them pay.

Put me down for holding all portal activity until after the playoff. Not fair for the best teams to deal with the distraction, and in some cases hits to their depth while making a run. In a game like yesterday, Sydr and maybe one of the others gets some snaps.

Lots of play on the non-call for targeting on Taaffe, I thought we were screwed. That said, this crew let them both play all day. Not necessarily a blessing when there is a talent gap. The raping that went on all day without holding calls had a huge impact. The liberal handsplay also leveled it some. Saying the refs benefited Texas in this game overall is a stretch....

The blessing and the curse of this run of recruiting. Tier 1 players come in with expectations to compete. Top portal talents come in with expectations to guaranteed PT, starting, etc. It is hard to offer both if you are a straight shooter. Evidently Sark will shoot straight, and if you want to join this juggernaut, come in ready to compete. I see both sides, if I could go to another team which is hurting more for whatever reason (like they suck), I go there.

Hats off to "Scat", kid is just a gym rat, baller with a ton of heart, and some sneaky skills. I do think if the offense showed some more Balance from Offense throughout we bottle him more than we did, but tough to not be impressed. The scowling crap could probably have been given a rest, especially when they had about 10 points through 3 quarters and we had stuffed them on downs multiple times.

Overall, off we go. I would love a Natty or to play for one, but if you saw 12-2 you were probably in a small group.

Last, the bowls are now a joke, with the non-playoff bowls almost a waste of time. That said, the SEC has not looked so hot......Hopefully we get a team or two in the final.
