Texas football coach Tom Herman said defensive tackle Chris Nelson rolled his ankle during practice on Tuesday and will not play against West Virginia.

Herman said Gerald Wilbon will start instead of Nelson. In addition, Herman intends to activate Keondre Coburn, who practiced his the defense instead of the scout team this week. D'Andre Christmas and Jamari Chisholm will be in the defensive tackle rotation against West Virginia, too.

However, Herman is optimistic Nelson will only miss one game.

-- Linebacker Anthony Wheeler will miss the first series because he "got his days mixed up on a lift" and showed up late. Jeffrey McCulloch will start instead.

-- Receiver Joshua Moore had shoulder surgery on Wednesday and could miss the rest of this season, including the bowl practice.

-- Defensive end Breckyn Hager (shoulder) practiced on Wednesday and Thursday. He is expected to play on Saturday.

-- Receiver D'Shawn Jamison (foot sprain) and is good to go.

-- LB Malcolm Roach (foot) is available for a limited amount of plays on Saturday.

-- Receiver John Burt will be activated this week, according to Herman.
