“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out”. - Walter Winchell

I can count on one hand the number of great friends I have made in my life. My best friend I met in the 3rd grade, two others I met in middle school, and the other ones I met at church when I was in my late 30’s and one on OB.

These are the guys I could call at 2 am to help me if I had car trouble and if alive would carry my coffin to the graveside. Most of my other friends are really acquaintances who rarely call if ever, the ones I usually have to call to do something if they are in town and not busy or only call me if then NEED something.

I don’t know why, but in my experience, guys have a tougher time making good friends that last a lifetime. The friends I mentioned all live far away from me, so I rarely see them.

It’s a great comfort to have good friends that will be there when you need someone to talk to or to pick you up when you are at a low point. To make good friends you must be ready to BE a good friend and be available.

Let’s all try to be that kind of friend; you never know when it’s your turn to lean on one.

Be careful out there!
