The quote above is an example of what one can find in any bookstore under the “self-help” section. Bookstores are full of books on the subject of “taking care of number one”, thus making ourselves the center of all things. The main emphasis of these books is to teach how to become self-confident and self-sufficient. There is nothing wrong with being self-confident and self-sufficient UNLESS…it leads to being self-centered only.
However, what does our Creator say about this? He calls us to be dependent on Him. True confidence is knowing you are complete when in His presence. Everything you need can be found in Him and through Him.
