“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” – Maya Angelou

When something or someone interferes with your plans or desires, how do you react? I suspect most, if not all of us, will have resentment. We like to be in control of our lives and when things don’t go as planned, we tend to get angry, frustrated, point a finger at someone or at our Creator for not fulfilling our wishes in the time or manner we desired.

What should our response be? Our Creator says to be grateful. Yes, grateful when things don’t go our way. Instead of pushing those negative feelings down, give them up to your Creator so you can deal with them. Speaking about your disappointments to Him will help you free yourself from the resentment you may feel.

The more we give control to our Creator the FREER we can become to be grateful for the good and the bad that occur in our lives. This seems like an oxymoron, i.e. to give all authority to someone else to be free, but the result is knowing that you don’t have to always have your hands on the wheel of life, you can rest in your Creator’s capable hands.

Instead of feeling entitled at times to all the blessings you have received, respond with gratitude and be prepared to let go of anything your Creator takes from you, BUT…don’t let go of His hand!

Be GRATEFUL out there. Happy Thanksgiving!
