“It takes a strong fish to swim against the current. Even a dead one can float with it.” –John Crowe
How many of you can relate to this quote?
It reminds me of an event I had during my very first job out of college. I went to my sales manager and CEO about an issue I was having with one of my clients. I figured out during my research of their account that they had been overpaying their lease by double due to them paying a double payment up front. My goal was to upgrade them to a new product, but the upgrade would cost more than what they were double paying.
They both said, don’t tell them, they’ll never know the difference and you’ll get a bigger commission. I could have gone along with their advice, but I’d feel dead inside, like that dead fish floating with the current. I told them I’d know, and I submitted my resignation and looked for a new job.
Sometimes you must stand up for what’s right even if it hurts you in the short term. Suffice it to say, I found a much better job soon after I quit, which led me to acquiring skills I would use later in my business career.
I submit that short term suffering for long term gain is worth it.
Proverbs 12:22 & Ephesians 4:25
Blessing to you all!
