“It isn’t hard to be good from time to time. What is tough is being good every day.” –Willie Mays

If any of you have played golf, you can relate to this quote. I recently took up golf again after about 9 years of dealing with various shoulder pain issues. Those finally resolved and I started taking golf lessons. My first two lessons went well, then the third was a wake-up call. I thought I was hitting consistently and then everything went to Bevo dung.

We see this in our beloved Longhorns, great 1st half only to see us sputter in the second or vice versa. Consistency in sports is very hard. Consistency in life can be even harder. I try to be “good” every day but, cut me off when I’m driving, and my inner demons come out. I’ve gotten better at not letting my devil driver rear its ugly head, but sometimes I slip up. There are several other examples of triggers that bring out the worst in me.

We live in a fallen world and it’s no surprise that even on our best days, we can revert to the worst part of our character in an instant.

Our Creator knows this and yet He still loves us more than we can ever imagine. He wants the best for us and wants a relationship with us even more.

Take comfort that even when you fall, He will be there to pick you up and help you stay on the best path forward. All we must do is reach out to Him when we are looking up from our backside after a fall.

Be careful out there!
