“If the thing that I wanted most had happened … I wouldn’t be where I am.” –Conan O’Brien

This quote reminds me of several times my prayers received an answer of NO. At those times I was upset, angry, frustrated, and at times, doubted my Creator. But when I look back, those “no’s” were the best thing that could have happened to me.

The biggest example I will share with you was when I was struggling with my second sales job, it had become agonizing to go to work. I wanted to become a district sales manager or move up to the head office in marketing. I had all the qualifications and my manager’s full endorsement when I was asked to interview for a district manager job that came open. I thought I was a shoe in since my manager had a great relationship with the regional manager I was interviewing with. But, I bombed, we did not hit it off at all and the job went to a much less experienced sales rep. I was really upset!

Soon afterwards, one of my best friends at church asked me if I wanted to start a new business with him and I jumped at the chance although it was scary as hell to leave a well-paying job with full benefits. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this opportunity is why I didn’t get that district manager job.

Our Creator knows what’s best for us. We don’t see the whole picture of our life’s journey and sometimes we want to take a wrong turn, and He puts us back on the path He knows we want even if we don’t have a clue what we want at that time.

This is another reason I harp on staying in touch with our Creator daily.

Stay tuned in my friends!
