“People don't like the idea of consequences. They want to be able to live their life freely and do what they want to do without any consequences. And we know that's just not the way life is”. - Charles Stanley

Growing up I remember doing things without thinking what consequences would result later. One time my older brothers and I were bored, so we ended up playing on a construction site on top of a dirt mound, then one of the older kids decided it would be fun to throw dirt balls at cars going by on the street below. It didn’t take long when we all hit one car and the lady driving almost crashed on the side of the road. Fortunately, she and her car were fine. But we all ran away and thought we’d gotten away with our stupid act.

When we got home, our mother was at the front door with a yardstick, and we all got a good licking on the back of our legs, and we had to go meet the lady and apologize to her. One of the other kids was caught by the lady and told on us. A great lesson was learned.

Later in life, I still made impulsive decisions and reaped some negative consequences, but hopefully I’ve learned from them. I’ve tried to teach my now adult kids to think ahead before making a decision. Seeking the counsel of others is good practice and praying is even more effective to making better choices.

Make good choices my friends!
