Continual Peace
Can we have constant peace?
Seems like a very tall task these days. We are constantly given reasons to be anxious; watching 30 minutes of your nightly news is all it takes to drive peace away.
It doesn’t have to be this way. I was reading a passage in the Old Testament about the time when the Israelites were wandering in the desert. They had to rely DAILY on the Lord for manna to eat. They were dependent on Him each day.
This is where He wants us to be, dependent on Him for our daily peace. With prayer and petition we can have that daily peace that alludes so many of us. If He gave us permanent peace, i.e. in just one day and no longer in His presence, we may fall into the trap of self-sufficiency and we know that would not work out well for us.
We can approach His throne of grace each day with confidence that He will provide all we need including His peace.
Exodus 16:14-20, Philippians 4:6-7, 19, Hebrews 4:16
