I wonder how many of us think about this during a given year. If I’m honest with myself, probably not that often. I suspect if you are like me, I think about this when I face a tough challenge. I recently had a health scare and it made me think about my eventual home vs. the here and now. Turned out I’m fine, but the things of this world started to fade while waiting for confirmation that I was OK.
Other times I think about this are when someone I care about dies or has a health scare.
We are all just passing through this world and I hope that I have left it in a better state than before I arrived on the scene. I try to give my kids and grandkids a solid example of how to live and treat others. I have at times failed, but even then, teaching the idea of repentance and forgiveness are valuable lessons for them to witness.
Keep one eye on earth and the other on heaven, a good balance for us and our loved ones future.
