Let Me Tell You A Secret
Secrets can be both positive and negative. Positive secrets might involve keeping someone’s confidence or maintaining humility about our good deeds. Negative secrets, on the other hand, could involve hiding sin or deceit. Understanding what our Creator says about secrets can help us make wise choices and live in a way that honors God and respects others.
We all may know some who love to gossip. As soon as they hear something juicy, they spread it like wildfire. We are warned to stay away from those who love to tickle our ears with secrets they know of others.
A wise person knows how to keep a secret, which protects them from calamity. This reminds me of the phrase… “Loose lips sink ships”. Spreading rumors can come back to bite you in the rearend.
Other secrets we should keep include good deeds we are doing that help others. If we boast about them, we have then already received our reward. Better is to do these in secret where our Creator sees them and thus, we earn a greater reward.
One thing we should keep in mind, the secrets we keep hidden from others, the ones we are ashamed of are not hidden from our Creator. He knows everything about us. Don’t fool yourself that you can keep them hidden forever. It’s best to confess those and receive the grace He offers us daily.
Proverbs 11:13, Proverbs 21:23, Matthew 6:4
