"Everything you want is on the other side of fear." — Jack Canfield

Definition of FEAR:

An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

Be afraid of (someone or something) as likely to be dangerous, painful, or threatening.

In my experience, FEAR can cause one of two responses, fight or flight. Depending on what is causing your fear, you have a choice, either fight your fear or run away from it. If in a physical situation, i.e. someone is threatening your life, either choice may be appropriate. If I’m being attacked by a mugger for example, I most likely would fight like hell to survive unless there was a path to escape/run away.

What if your fear is simply the unknown outcome of a situation? Or perhaps, fear of failure if you make the “wrong choice” or a fear of losing someone or some thing?

Fear can be very paralyzing; it can make you stop in your tracks; afraid to move in one direction or another. Failure to move at all can be just as devastating or more as making the wrong choice and failing.

I may have shared this story before; when I was at the end of my rope regarding my pharma sales career I had an opportunity to leave the job I hated to start my own business. I was scared to death to make that move. What if it failed, how would I feed my wife and kids, keep a roof over their heads, and build a retirement fund? I had all of these things with my current job, but I was miserable.

I thank God that my wife was supportive and I had friends and family praying for me, so I took a leap of faith and went for it. As the quote above says, everything I wanted was on the other side of my fear.

I pray that when you are faced with a fearful situation, that you will remember that if you have faith in your Creator, faith in yourself, you can find everything you want on the other side of that fearful situation.

May you all have a very blessed and fearless day!
