I’m going to start Today’s Gift with another definition…PERFECT:

Having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.

Wouldn’t it be nice if everything in our lives was PERFECT? The perfect spouse/partner, the perfect house, the perfect kids, the perfect job, perfect health, and perfect friends/family.

When my wife and I were married for about 2 years, we decided we wanted to start a family, so we tried to get pregnant. We had no idea this would take more than five years and several doctor appointments to find out we both had physical issues that had to be fixed to even conceive. Then, after one surgery for me, and one treatment for a benign tumor for my wife, we finally conceived, only to have that pregnancy end up in miscarriage. We tried again, another miscarriage. We then tried for adoption, which failed as well due to some really weird circumstances.

We were devastated of course, but shortly after the adoption failed, my wife was pregnant again. You can probably imagine the anxiety we were facing, but we got through the first trimester and finally we had our first of 3 healthy children.

It took us almost 6 years to have our first child. This is NOT what we had planned. However, looking back, we had all that time to be much better prepared mentally and financially to have children. We both agree that we appreciate having our kids so much more than if everything went perfect the first time. We can also help others who have suffered miscarriages having been through it ourselves.

Perfection will come in our future on the other side for those who have faith. I believe we will look back and see how much we’ve grown and how much more we will appreciate the perfection to come.

I hope you have a great Wednesday!
