“The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.” —Dean Acheson

When I was a kid, time seemed to pass so slowly. I couldn’t wait for my next birthday, Christmas, summer to come and be out of school. Now…time flies by so fast, well unless it’s the offseason of football, once the season starts, back to time flying again.

At times I’ve wondered if I would want the ability to see what’s ahead in my future, to look out 5, 10, 15 years ahead. How would my body hold up, how would my kids and grandkids be doing, would our country and world be in a better situation? But then, when I look backward at the last 15 years, I think that there were things that happened I would have really stressed about had I known ahead of time they were coming my way. I concluded; I don’t want to see that far ahead.

Our Creator tells us to stay focused on the present. We can’t change the past and we shouldn’t worry about the future.

Matthew 6:34
