A season of suffering is a small assignment when compared to the reward. Rather than begrudge your problem, explore it. Ponder it. And most of all, use it. Use it to the glory of God. -Max Lucado

None of us likes to suffer. I often find myself praying for protection from the outside world, for good health, for safety of my family and friends, and a sound mind. However, in this world we cannot escape rough patches on our journey in life. Often, the rough patches have no warning or as some say…life comes at you fast. Our usual reaction is to ask “why me?”

We need to remember that we are not guaranteed a life without suffering. How we handle these tough times speaks to our outlook on the rest of our lives. We can shrink into a hole of self-pity or worse, try to numb the pain with destructive behaviors that can destroy our lives and those who love us.

Rather than self-implode, why not try to see what our Creator is trying to teach us through the suffering. Perhaps we’ve been leaning too much on self-reliance rather than seeking God’s will. We can ask ourselves, how we can use this for our benefit and others who have or will suffer a similar situation.

I pray that any of you that are currently suffering will find a way to use it as Max says, to the glory of our Creator.

Blessings to you all this Sunday!
