“Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” —Franklin P. Jones

On this date we remember the loved ones lost during the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil. I remember that day well. I was waking up in bed next to my wife and turned on the news to see the first plane fly into the first tower, and then the second. As many have said, it was surreal. The next night I had a dream that a plane flew into our local Toys R Us store as I was driving toward the intersection where that store was located.

It still amazes me today how HATE destroys our world and destroys the lives of people who have no impact on the terrorist’s agenda. I see Gaza in ruins, and it makes me so sad, not only for the people who are suffering, but the lost opportunity both Israel and Gaza inhabitants have to turn that place into one of the most beautiful spots in the world.

If only EVERYONE would live by the Golden Rule. It is so simple, yet apparently so hard for many to realize that hate of another leads us only to a path of destruction.

I suppose we can only change ourselves and try to demonstrate love to those in our sphere of influence. Love is a choice, even to those we don’t like or even those who have done us wrong. Sometimes the feelings of love are just not there, but we can choose to love anyway and perhaps the feelings will come later.
