Letting Go of The Past

“You will never become who you want to be if you’re too attached to who you’ve been.”
Saw this at the end of a photo series on Colin Simmons, Texas FB player

This is a very profound statement, and it was said by an 18 year-old college freshman.

After the ’05 National Championship, Mack Brown told the team to not let that game, the victory, be the best and most important event in their life.

We all know someone who can’t let go of past accomplishments-scoring the game wining touchdown in high school, being Homecoming Queen, and we know someone who can’t let go of past failures-not catching the game winning pass, the loss of a loved one or a failed marriage.

We will never become the person we are meant to be if we let the past define us whether good or bad. We have to find a way to let go of the past and to look toward the future. We only get one shot, one opportunity at life, and if we spend all our time dealing with past events, we’re wasting our shot.

Today let’s pack up the past, put it in a box and leave it there so that we can move on to the future and to being the person we want to be, the person we are meant to be.

Let’s stop wasting our shot and start making it count.

Blessings and love,
