What’s for Dinner?

Recently there have been several food preparation threads on OB. Some have been about cooking steaks, smoking a brisket, making chili…. A few have been about making sammitches, and one was about how to cut them.

All this talk about food reminded me of my neighbor who recently lost her husband. And now lives alone. We all know someone like her. Someone who probably doesn’t like to cook for just one person so she/he has cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and who knows what for supper-maybe takeout from McDonald’s? Not very healthy, is that?

With the extremely cold weather projected for this week, remember the folks who might need assistance in the upcoming days. Don’t ask if they need help because the answer will probably be “No, I’m fine.” Just stop by and give them a large bowl of soup because you made more than your family can eat, or ask for their grocery list because you’re heading there thought you could save them a trip.

For that matter, any time you cook something that will make several meals-pot roast, brisket/ribs, enchiladas, etc., share it with your friend, neighbor, or family member who lives alone. I promise it will be appreciated.

Blessings and love,
Mrs. T-Sipper 1972
