The Person in the Mirror
What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you see a person who is whole? Do you see a person who is broken? Do you see a person who is struggling? Do you like the person looking back at you? Do you feel pride, or do you feel disappointment, shame, maybe a little hate?
For me, the correct answer is yes to all of the above. There are days I feel really good about myself. Other days I do not like the person I see. Then there are days when my feeling comprise everything.
I was listening to a Jelly Roll song that had me asking some of these questions about myself. I’ve lived a fairly uncomplicated life, but if I’m asking these questions about myself, what questions would be asked by someone whose life was, in fact, complicated?
While the person we were will always be a part of us, that doesn’t mean we will always be that person. Through the grace of God we can leave that person, that life in the past. We can become a better person, a person we will like when we look in the mirror.
What changes can I make today that will help me become the person I want to be, the person I will like when I look in the mirror tonight? What changes can you make that will help you become the person you want to be, the person you like when you look in the mirror?
Blessings and love,
