Stay out of the Court of Self-Judgment, where there is no presumption of innocence.
~~~~~~~~~~~ Robert Brault
Your brain is planning a surprise party for you. Tonight, it will awaken you to remind you of that stupid thing you did 15 years ago. This will come after you've had only about three hours of sleep. Now that it has your attention, it will start a Greatest Hits album, a look back at broken relationships, loves won and lost, careless and hurtful words and deeds...all pulled out of your personal vault of colossally stupid actions and choices. The good news is that by now, it's 6:30 a.m., so you have just enough time to get up, go about your day, and pretend you're just fine.
Given that no one---no, not even one---is without sin (Ps 143:2; Romans 3:10), we will all have many regrets, shameful memories, and bad ol' sins to ponder in the wee hours. But wait! Didn't we just talk about this?? Have we already forgotten the message of Easter? That whole Crucifixion thing, was it only for that one day? Aren't God's mercies NEW every morning (Lam. 3:22-24), and His Grace sufficient for each of us ( 2 Cor 12: 9,10)? Try an experiment. Tonight, last thing before you drift off to sleep, ask Him for Peace, not the peace the world gives us, but that Peace that only He can provide. John 14:27.
In His service,
NT
Dedicated to Allen Jones, who had his own demons too, but found Grace to vanquish them.
