“Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.”
Jimi Hendrix

It is often said that we need to have courage-the courage to change the things that we can, but not so much that we usurp control of another’s affairs. At the same time, we are called to pray for acceptance-acceptance of the things that we cannot change, but not so much that we are lured into lazy inaction.

It is often said that resentments are the number one offender-they are like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. But in the other ear, we hear that we need to take a stand, avoid enabling, and hold true to our worthy convictions.

It is often said that we need to let go and let God, but those same friends tout the importance of agency and free will.

What do these and every other saying have in common? Nuance; they require His wisdom to know the difference. Indeed, they require the insight-giving Holy Spirit to guide us through each scenario in which close calls confront us. My Bible has a name for that-wisdom.

Today let’s not bombard our close calls with self will; instead, let’s align our will with His by praying for the “ wisdom” to know the difference.
