Sometimes it's worse to win a fight than to lose.
~~~~~~ Billie Holiday
On OB, in politics, in life and love, we all see things differently. Our differing points of view give us some much-needed variety, the hybrid vigor of independent thought and suggestion.
But when we stubbornly refuse to let friends or colleagues or family members express their ideas simply because we disagree with them, we may "win" that particular battle, but we risk losing the war. We risk losing the love of a friendship, or the compassion and understanding of a family member. If instead we make room for some disagreement, if we listen with our ears rather than with our mouths, that's when we take a step forward. That's when we also open our hearts to people and ideas that we've not before considered.
We might even learn something.
"Let your speech always be with grace...that you may know how to answer each one." Colossians 4:6.
Have a blessed day, my friends.
