Stop. Please man. Just stop.

Last year it was the backpack nipple rub to taunt the MIZZU qb. "Aw but he had that a'comin." Even if he did, you're our coach. You're not a highschool pep squad taunting the other crowd.

Last night you did not come on the field to defend your players. Mike Gundy is 6'1 and a buck 90 WITH the mullet. Who on your team would he be stupid enough to pick a fight with? The 3rd string punter? Hager, even though he was revealed last night to be the primadona that we all knew him to be from day one, is 6'3 and 255. Did you feel you needed to protect him from Gundy? Dude...... just stop.

You ran out there last night because you got your butt whipped and it left a crappy taste in your mouth and you let your emotions get the best of you. Pure and simple. And when you stand infront of the cameras and say "well I thought Gundy was going after my players...... and I went to defend them......." That's spin. You lost your cool because you lost the game. Just be a grown ass man and own it bro. It's the first step in leading this team back to success: being honest with yourself.

clob, I do get where Herman is coming from. He thought that Gundy was going onto the field and I think that he took it as disrespect, not that he had to protect his players from getting beat up. Did Herman's emotions get the best of him? Yes. He overreacted, but I do understand where he's coming from. He does need to keep his composure and think before he reacts.

Herman was already mad at his 3 delinquent starters. Then the refs for very good reason. If Gundy came on to the field first, I am ok with herman's reaction.

All three delinquents are Charlie Strong guys. Can't be rid of them soon enough. A team has to have some hard and fast rules. Can't be like $ooner and snort coke and shoot uzi's into the night sky (the boz). $ooners will move the target to allow anything and everything for a win.

If I were Herman, I would have been pissed off too. It's hard to do the right thing and accept the consequences. In the long run, we won't have to set a moving target for rules like $ooners. The Strong guys now know not to fvck up or your draft position will go to shit. The Boyd bro's, LJH, and Davis can't get the hell out of here fast enough.

I give Herman a gold star for bowing up to "The MAN". Fvck him.

Agree with MM. If anybody thinks Herman was literally protecting his players from physical harm you’ve got your head so far up your ass I don’t know what to tell you. Gundy ran on the field first and Herman is no pussy. Clob is being an apologist and big surprise the aggies and sooners are siding with him.

I'm not being an apologist. I'm saying he needs to learn to control his emotions better because he represents this university, this team, this fan base, and himself. Mike Gundy couldn't whip a wet paper bag. That was Coach Herman projecting his anger and frustration about losing this game on a situation that wasn't what in any rational mind, was going to happen. Those guys are all wearing, literally, armor. Tom is going to run out there and protect his armor wearing players against what, exactly.

Look, we've all been there. Losing, especially when you're supposed to win, just sucks. It's the worst kind of feeling. It's truly fvcking embarrassing. And running out onto the field looking like you're in "fight mode" while screaming obscenities on national tv, is not the best look. It didn't look like passion, it looked like butthurt.

I'm not saying he can't get past this, he can. But he's got to learn to keep his sh!t in check. Those kids are watching an he's their example.

MM, I'm just yelling you what he said in his post game presser. He went out there to protect his players.

It’s not protecting his players from physical harm. Did Herman say that? Or did he just say protecting his players.

Bad thread clob.
So then if we've eliminated that he was protecting his players from physical harm, why else would he need to be on the field and what exactly was he protecting his players from? I'm being totally sincere when I ask you this.

"I thought Mike had come out and was having a word with one of our players," Herman said. "I took exception to that. When I shook his hand at the end, he said, 'Hey, I was just trying to make sure that we were smart and no fight ensued.' And I believe him. We smiled." here's his words.

My guess is he thought Grundy was addressing Hager and possibly bitching at him...which would be warranted. Tom took exception and rightly so went out to stick up for his player.

You rip his ass in the office. You stick up for them on the field.

That was my take. Coaches get heated just like players. You invest so much time it means a lot. It’s only a big deal if the coaches make it a big deal. They didn’t. No biggie.

I meant this thread turned bad via aggies and sooners jumping on the pile with their bias.

I'd rather have Herman with his unpolished outbursts than coaches who scheme to protect rapists and woman beaters.
Hey, you'll get no argument from me about protecting alleged women abusers at all. But that's a tad extreme of an example. I'm simply saying Tom needs to do better. We all should strive to grow as human beings and he's no exception. If he plans on leading this university for the long term, he's got to always act like that.

Lest we forget, Woody Hayes was a GREAT football coach, but one stupid incident where he lost his cool ruined his career and damaged his legacy.

Very well said, still disagree with some of it. Not saying anything further.

Hello!!! I am glad with what he did. Tired of all this politically correct BS. You may want to brow beat me however I am glad to see the emotion from our head coach.

Oh and that was my first post. Thank you

My personal take on this. I think it was more on the lines of sticking up for your kids when another adult attempts to discipline them.
"I know little Johnny screwed up but it's my responsibility to spank my kids, not yours."

Not saying it was right or wrong but that's how I see it. Anyways.... we'll move on.

my personal take on this is what the hell did Herman think he was going to do? whip Gundy's ass or something? Herman is a guy that couldnt swing a sledge hammer hard enough to knock down a single divider between lockers. he looks like a clown when he acts like this and that reflects on the entire program.

Ever been in combat and want to defend your guys? I bet it's a little like that.... Are you a parent? If you're not, you won't understand.

Clob I agree with you.... But let me play a little devils advocate. We know Hermans smart, and I'm probably giving him too much credit. But I believe this Texas team is still full of premadonnas we are waiting to graduate. Last year Hermans fire and brimstone approach didn't work with them, so he tried something else, buddy-buddy bowl game coach and taunted an opposing QB mid game to save face with this players and earn some respect in the locker room. I think saturday night he was worried his team would implode and revert to old ways, so when Gundy went on the field, he made a split decision... Go out there and get fired up for his players, have his players back, go to war for them. Who gives a crap- us against the world.... Here's my spin (excuse lol) What if he did nothing? Those are 18-20yo kids. Gundy comes on the field to have his players back... and Herman just watches from the sideline? That would be a bad look in the locker room. I think he went out there bc no matter what he's going to ride or die with his players- and they'll have his back for it. Time will tell--- We beat WVU and run the table I may look like a mensa genius too hahaha

You can always go back into the locker room and use it as a teachable moment. "Look I (Herman) messed up, Hager messed up. There will be repercussions, I will be punished, Hager will be punished. But I will always have your back, if you have mine. We are the better team, but tonight the better team won bc we didn't play up to our expectations. You want to be great...blah blah blah"
