Tom. Tommy. Thomas. We need to talk.....

Agree with MM. If anybody thinks Herman was literally protecting his players from physical harm you’ve got your head so far up your ass I don’t know what to tell you. Gundy ran on the field first and Herman is no pussy. Clob is being an apologist and big surprise the aggies and sooners are siding with him.

I see where you're coming from, but I disagree.

Look, it's true I dislike your football team, but I recognize that as a university, UT is the class of the big XII. By a pretty decent margin.

And Herman has you guys trending in the right direction. However, that was poor form by one of your leaders at the end of the game on Saturday. Not worthy of your school's standards.

I wouldn't say its a big deal though.

my personal take on this is what the hell did Herman think he was going to do? whip Gundy's ass or something? Herman is a guy that couldnt swing a sledge hammer hard enough to knock down a single divider between lockers. he looks like a clown when he acts like this and that reflects on the entire program.
Pretty much spot on in my opinion and I’d say the same if it was Lincoln Riley doing this. There is nobody that thinks Herman or Riley could whip anyone’s ass, so why act like it. Like I said, he had people ‘holding him back’ or he would have taken on the whole OSU team right? Come on and anyone comparing what happened and going to battle, defending your warriors etc, please quit. It is what it is, it looked bad, as Clob pointed out he’s catching a lot of grief on social media about it. You have to conduct yourself like the head of UT football not Houston high school.

Ya ok. MM, it's time to take out the trash on this one. His main purpose here is to run down our school and everything about it. He thinks that he is being sly but most of us understand his purpose. I've grown tired of his shtick.

Find one freaking post of mine on here where I have EVER run down Herman outside of this thread. Which by the way I’m condemning the behavior not the person. I’ve have always said I thought he was a good hire when many of your own didn’t necessarily agree. There is nothing sly whatsoever about my comments in this thread I’ve been very blunt and straight to the point., and in case you haven’t noticed Nueces, it’s not like I’m the lone dissenting opinion on this topic. Besides I live in a trailer, who cares what I think

Does it look bad? Of course it does. Is it a big deal? No. I'm tired of everyone thinking that the head coach at UT has to be some sort of sparkling politician. He's a football coach.

Clob I agree with you.... But let me play a little devils advocate. We know Hermans smart, and I'm probably giving him too much credit. But I believe this Texas team is still full of premadonnas we are waiting to graduate. Last year Hermans fire and brimstone approach didn't work with them, so he tried something else, buddy-buddy bowl game coach and taunted an opposing QB mid game to save face with this players and earn some respect in the locker room. I think saturday night he was worried his team would implode and revert to old ways, so when Gundy went on the field, he made a split decision... Go out there and get fired up for his players, have his players back, go to war for them. Who gives a crap- us against the world.... Here's my spin (excuse lol) What if he did nothing? Those are 18-20yo kids. Gundy comes on the field to have his players back... and Herman just watches from the sideline? That would be a bad look in the locker room. I think he went out there bc no matter what he's going to ride or die with his players- and they'll have his back for it. Time will tell--- We beat WVU and run the table I may look like a mensa genius too hahaha

I curious to hear a coach's perspective on this. Is there some type of mutual understanding between coaches that you shoudn't interact with the other players, especially not yell at them like what Herman thought Gundy was doing. I've seen multiple coaches do this same type of thing. Dan Mullen did it a couple of weeks ago. If there is a way to piss off a coach that sure does seems like a good way to do it.

I believe Herman was also pissed because he felt he got screwed on a few calls during the game.

Nueces, Bell is a good dude, even though he's an OU fan, lol. He's pretty level headed and really doesn't talk trash about UT on here.

Un-written coach code- Don't ever yell at the other coaches players, it's our job to keep our house in order. Also don't ever cross the numbers. 2 cardinal sins

Yes. And if you do, there will be words.

Like I said in an earlier post. Rip their ass in the office, but you 1000000% have their back (even if they're wrong) on the field in front of the other players.

I’m an armchair qb, does that count or are you wanting someone a little more legit to weigh in?

Aww shucks. Appreciate that my friend. I do agree about not talking much trash though, I always try to be respectful and I sure try to point out my team’s shortcomings. I’ve been posting here a pretty good while, probably at least 5 or 6 years maybe more. I used to post under Belldozer but had to change to Belldozer1 after losing my login info and changing my email etc about 4 years ago so to still be here I can’t be all that bad. I usually use Scholz as a pretty accurate barometer, if he’s wanting to argue then I’ve probably said something somewhat subjective LOL. He’s a good adamant fan though.

Let your assistants do all that. While I am all about passion and fire, you're the head coach of a D1 football program. You can't get drawn offsides like that. Let your strength and conditioning guy go whip someone....

I dunno, just seems beneath a head coach to be out on the field screaming at the other team. I played HS for a TX Hall of Fame coach and there isn't a chance in hell he would have done it. But his players wouldn't have needed it either. He did his screaming and azz kicking Monday thru Wednesday. (Thursday was helmet and shorts walk through) :)

But with all that said, if MY head coach was to run over to the other side and whip the other team's coach I would probably think it was awesome. :D

What? As a head coach you'd let one of your assistants run on the field when the opposing team's coach is on the field? Really?

Well, if the goal is to get your players off the field, then yes....the assistants are appropriate for this. At least they were when I played.

Whenever gladiator style battle royales involving the head coaches become a thing, I guess I will revisit my strategies on which coaches should be on the field with one another?

Of course you would. You'd be all over his jock about being tough and loyal. You were probably puffing out your chest when Jimbo was grabbing his player's facemask a few weeks back too.

So what about you? Did you approve of Tom's "hold me back" moment?

He looked frustrated about the game is what I thought it was. And there's nothing wrong with defending your players albeit a little over the top. Emotions run high in football if you've ever played the game. No big deal except to bitter haters.

Your obsession about all things Texas is noted though, aggy on a Longhorn board.

I probably agree with you. Gundy looked like he was fighting his own guys and trying to separate them. Much ado about nothing honestly.

And your inability to not personally attack people who are having a civil conversation on an open free board is also noted. Again.

Yes, your "hold me back" comment is certainly civil and not an insult at all.

Is this thread about aggys? No? Then why are you here? Don't you have Bama to fellate somewhere?

It kinda was "hold me back". I think Tom would even admit he let his emotions get away from him. Hence the OP.

Last I checked this was the "open" forum. YOU might be on the wrong board... :)

Nah, I just find bitter aggys like you who find anything and everything to obsess and insult Texas about on our board to be obnoxious. That's my opinion on the free board.

But seriously, why are you here, oldschool? Didn't you girls run off because you hated us so much? Haven't you ducked us in football numerous times? Why don't you go play with your new friends on their boards? You obviously don't want to play on the field.

I come to this board for the same reason anyone else would....to read about and discuss college football, politics, culture, food, etc.

I don't personally insult other posters, and I don't get threads locked. So what exactly is the problem?

You're an annoying, bitter aggy who's currently insulting our coach on our board and who's obsessed and hated on UT for years. It's not rocket science. Maybe try reading it slowly this time?
