It's a bit early to start discussing 2021 recruiting too much but Tommy Brockermeyer (son of Texas All American OT Blake Brockermeyer) was ranked as the number 3 player overall and number 1 OT in the nation when 247 updated their 2021 rankings.

Tommy was originally unranked but based on his physical growth, sophomore highlights and camp performances that was certain to change. Tommy, in fact, had about 5 other offensive lineman from Texas ranked ahead of him before the update. While some of those other linemen were downgraded a bit, Tommy made a huge jump to the top of the list.

Texas is considered a huge favorite in this recruitment with not only the opportunity to follow in his father's footsteps but to also join his brother Luke who is currently a walk-on linebacker. Tommy's brother James is a 2021 center who isn't as highly lauded at this time but has a solid offer list. Texas has yet to offer but that may happen this weekend and if it does, this recruitment could shut down very early.

I went ahead and watched James' highlights. He may not be as big, about 3 inches shorter and 30 pounds lighter but he is equally as nasty. Both of these boys are playing through the whistle and looking for extra work constantly.

I didn't grow up watching Blake, do they get this from their dad?

Yes. Blake was nasty.

Blake was a complete and total badass, he might be the single best offensive linemen Texas produced. The list of guys that might be considered his equal is very short, Jerry Sisemore, Gene Chilton, Dan Neil, and Leonard Davis. He was a guy that had a mean streak in him as well. I'm sure Clob can tell you more than I can.

Whattaya wanna know?

Blake was a badass. A total masher for Texas on the OL. No one pushed him around or beat him.

Well he seems to have instilled that in his sons as well. Great blockers who look to deliver some punishment up to and even after the whistle. Several moments where they put a defender on their butt away from the ball as the play is winding down. No flags that I could see.

Brother James got his offer today at the Spring Game. He promptly had a Texas Crystal Ball come through. I think both end up Horns. They may want to take some visits and see other schools which may delay things but I wouldn't be shocked by a commitment soon.

I think Tommy and James are going to be huge in convincing others to join them. I'm hoping we take 5 linemen next year

I think we could bring in 4-5 really good linemen in 2020 and 2021. With the guys on campus now, that bodes well for our talent and depth going forward.
