Hillary is smart enough to run circles around Trump, but she won't. She runs the risk of getting a visceral response out of Der Donald, which his supporters will eat up, and many undecided may see as her trying to goad him. Trump isn't going to come out firing because that would play in Clinton's gameplan and he could come across as a blustering, empty shirt.
I see this debate as 2 hours of the candidates circling each other, each getting a clever moment in, and nothing really happening. Their support numbers are going to stay about the same.
