When I was in high school, I ran against Justin McLemore and thought he was one of the more impressive athletes I ever competed against. I don’t think he broke any records but he was damn good at many events. He went under 14 seconds in the 110 High Hurdles, under 38 seconds in the 300 Intermediate Hurdles, High Jump 6’10 and Long Junp 22+ feet. This brings me to the State Track and Field Meet last weekend. Stryker Reed, from 1A Gordon, took 1st in the 110 High Hurdles (14.6), 1st in the 300 Intermediate Hurdles (38.6), 2nd in the High Jump (6’2), 4th in the Pole Vault (13’6) and ran a leg on their 1st place 4X400 relay team. Those are pretty damn good times and heights for any high school kid, much less from a 1A school and a Sophomore. Not to mention, he led the football team to a state championship. I always thought Justin McLemore would have made a great decathlete and the same for this kid.
