Trying to be patient and not hysterically critical of his moves so far, unlike a lot of people, but cuts that affect Food Banks and school lunch programs around the country are over the top. Houston has the largest Food Bank in the world, feeds over 800,000 people and distributes $200 million in meals a year. I can't imagine many people who live in Houston who at one time or another haven't given time, money or volunteered for something Food Bank related. I know even our UT Exes have volunteer days there. HFB has no fat to trim, mostly run with the help of volunteers, so the money that comes in converts directly to getting food to those in need.
Issue is this is literally taking food out of the mouths of children. You can't blame the children for the problems their parents have, whether brought on themselves or not.
" According to Greene, the loss of funding will account for about 15% of the food bank's yearly budget. Federal funding has been provided by several agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) via its Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and Local Food Purchase Assistance Program (LFPA)."
"All together, that should add up to $11 million, that was the cash loss," Greene said. "In addition to that, really the bigger loss works out to an annual basis of close to 500 tractor-trailer loads of commodities."
Hoping everyone who donates time or money will up their game. I'm not much for handouts, but feeding our people is a moral obligation IMO. This needs to be fixed.
Be better Trump.
