If you need a comparison between Trump I and Trump II, this is it. In Trump I, he would have worn out his thumbs in an attempt to highlight government waste and misdirected funds. In Trump II he is sitting back, letting Musk and DOGE do the work while Trump occasionally cheerleads and quietly takes credit.

Now, most of DOGE so far is sensational. FEMA money directed to illegal immigrants, USAID fiascoes, and lots of research for liberal gender causes. In a real sense, the money so for is no more than a gnat on an elephant's ass. But it has done something that hasn't happened since Andrew Jackson was in office: Turn public sentiment against government spending.

We know that the real issue will be when Congress has to pass a budget and make some real cuts to Defense, HHS and other dear programs. But DOGE has probably uncovered some embarassing expenditures that tie back to specific Congressmen. Those have not been released and may NOT be released if the Congressman votes for cuts. But if the Congressman refuses to vote properly? Well, FAFO.

So, Trump II has taken a page from Obama and Biden: Let minions do the dirty work so you can be positive and revel in the successes you unleashed.
