UCF vs Auburn

Every year we say about the group of 5 team “oh they can’t stay on the field with(insert team) and a lot of years we’ve been wrong...

A tale of two conferences.

The Big XII goes into the RB having won their last 5 bowl games and coming in with a 5/2 record.

The SEC comes into the playoffs with a 2/5 record. One of their P5 teams had lost to a mid major.

So what happens?

OK can't stop GA late in the game and the game goes into ot. Then their number 1 ranked offense can't score a td in ot. They have a fine kicker in Austin Siebert. He's never had a kick blocked. Until today.

A potentially great bowl season for the Big XII goes sour.

Just when it looked like the SEC was going to have a mediocre bowl season GA beats OK and if Clemson doesn't get it together, Bama is on the way to the title game.

Which means two SEC teams in the title game.
Bummer

If Georgia and Alabama play for the title, no one will remember who won the wonder bread bowl or the skippy peanut butter bowl. It will be all SEC from now to August.

But Clemson has a really good shot at shutting that talk down.

What the Big XII needs badly is for Texas to return to blue blood status. The TX/OK game needs to become a national rivalry again. As much as it pains me to say this OK is doing their part we haven't. If that happens people will start paying attention to the Big XII again.

I don't know who brought this up before, but if I ever see the diet Dr Pepper dude on the street, one of ya'll are going to have to pay my bail.

And not only will I pay your bail I personally will hire Dick DeGuerin to represent you in court. I mean if he can get that scumbag Robert Durst off he can do anything.

Well the SEC sure brags about it when one of their teams win those kind of games.

Just you wait and see the little ten will do the same thing.

Pretty sure when you watch ESPN no one will be talking BIG10 or BIG12 bowl records. If Alabama closes out Clemson, the other games might as well not have happened.

This may be true, but the worst thing for the SEC is for Alabama to win the MNC. Why? Because, lately, it’s generally been Alabama from the SEC winning it - not teams from the SEC winning it. In that case, they only have 1 team to brag about - not the SEC.

You realize Georgia is SEC as well? I'll be pulling for Georgia, but it won't matter. Alabama is healthy now.

UCF is real. Not even faulting Auburn for that loss. Really pulling for Shaquem Griffin to make an NFL squad. Inspiring. Gotta give props to Scott Frost for handling his departure the right way too.

He should be the poster boy on how to handle a coaching change. Maybe he should teach a class for coaches at one of those big conferences they have!

Love that “came to play” business. Such a back-handed compliment.

I didn't mean it as a back handed compliment. There is a big talent disparity between UCF and Auburn. Maybe "came to play" is the wrong way to describe what I meant. UCF was highly motivated and this was a big, big game for them. They rose up and played to their capability and beyond and just flat out took it to Auburn. For that, they deserve all of the credit. They earned a lot of people's respect with that win yesterday.
