E. Acho’s videos are gaining much attention. And he is doing a good job asking thought provoking questions. But, when will the black community look inward? Many (including myself), believe the black community has a hard time taking responsibility for their own issues. The culture has evolved into a victim mentality. So, to prove this wrong, I think it’s time to have some uncomfortable conversations with a white man.
- Why are 50% of all violent crimes committed by such a small population of our country?
- Is it understandable that police and other citizens may look at a large black man looking a certain way, and have their radar go off?
- What can be done within the black community to change the statistics on violent crime?
- Are there concerns within the black community about having children out of wedlock? If so, what can be done to change that?
- Is the perception that the black community lifts up their lowest common denominators (criminals) a valid perception? If not, explain why it appears that way. If yes, explain why that is, and why it shouldn’t change.
- Is education stressed enough in the black community as a whole? If yes, what can be done to make sure every black child has a great education - with the understanding that money isn’t the answer? What steps can be taken within the community to make students and schools safer and better environments to learn?
- What responsibility should the black community take for their perceived inequality and what changes can the community make to lessen these issues?
- Is it helpful to the solution to find little known ties to potentially racist actions in the distant past and call them to everyone’s attention - think Eyes of Texas.
