I’ve been wondering this since the first loss this year but does anybody notice how Herman seems to favor his upper classmen sometimes versus playing a young that might be better? The Bijan over Keontay is the biggest one that comes to my mind. Playing Brewer over Wiley is another one that really bothers me. Majors and Karic seem to be better as well. This might have been the difference from finishing this year 7-3 versus say 9-1.

Bijan didn’t get a spring training and I get why he was brought up slowly during the season. He also got bent in half early in the season and missed some time. I have no idea why Wiley doesn’t see the field more over Brewer though.

So I did some digging on Wiley and it seems he had a nagging shoulder injury most of the season. That’s what kept him out of the bowl game as well. I totally forgot about Bijan getting folded up earlier in the year. I don’t really buy the no spring practice for a running back though. He should have touched the ball 15-20 times a game every game. A good coach would have figured this out.

What happened to Tom's meritocracy? Maybe what he thinks is a meritocracy is really union seniority (loyalty). Funny how people perceive and think differently. Tom's form of loyalty is going to cause us to lose some talent in the portal.

It’s a fine line he has to walk with the transfer portal being so active. If you bench the older guys they’ll transfer and then you have no depth. We are not loaded 4 deep like Bama is.

If you’re worried about depth instead of putting your best 22 guys on the field then I’m afraid that’s poor coaching. We have had 3 consecutive top 10 recruiting classes so while we don’t have Bama depth we do have some depth.

The best players should play, you also have to keep guys happy. Like I said, it’s a fine line.
