At the heart of arguments regarding deportations of campus activists and withholding of federal funding is a basic question: are the universities and campus organization leaders protecting free speech or enabling civil rights violations? As a Jew, Zionist and father of a high school senior, I have been following these events since October 8, 2023 when I saw a wave of Israel and Jew hate emerge on campuses. Mind you, this was before Israel ever responded militarily and simply a reaction to the events on October 7. In addition to congressional testimony, there are websites, academic research institutes, and the ubiquitous I-Phone dedicated to documenting the events. Certain posters, like @Schloss2Texas and @FtWorthHorn07 are claiming the primary issue is about protecting free speech. I think nothing could be further than the truth. Absolutely no one objects to kids or professors having the right to espouse political ideas or criticize Israeli policy and political leadership. Trump administration punishments are designed to drive a stake through Jew and Israel hate on campus. By Israel hate, I mean its right to exist within any borders and the effort to extinguish it as a country.
