An investigation is underway in New Mexico after up to 20 human skulls were found inside a home in Jal, a small town found along the Texas border. The remains may be linked to a missing persons case in the area from 2019, law enforcement said.
The discovery was made after a Jal resident had an unsettling encounter with a man, Cecil Villanueva, while offering him a ride on Nov. 5. The Lea County Sheriff's Office said Villanueva was carrying two bags and made alarming statements while discarding objects from the vehicle — some appeared to be human bones.
