Yep. Also the USA kids are 4-1 vs Canada all time in the gold medal games. Lost in '97 but won in '04, '10, '17, and now '21. Been talking all kinds of shit to my Canadian teammates. I'm owed 7 cases of beer from them.
Contrary to popular belief on OB, hockey is becoming much more popular and our youth systems have improved dramatically in the past 25 years. The Stars move from Minnesota to Dallas in '93 was absolutely huge for hockey. The Dallas youth system is phenomenal. Side note, our 10U(9 and 10 year olds) AA travel kids in Austin are in first place in the Dallas league. Austin doesn't have enough players for a full league so our kids play in the Dallas leagues.
It'll never be as popular as football down here simply because it's by far the most expensive youth sport to play and football is king in the south but it's been gaining traction over the years. I'm excited for the future of hockey in the US!
