Texas offered Odessa Permian ATH Peyton Powell in late May, the same day they offered receivers Jaylen Ellis and Langston Anderson. At first, the Longhorns were targeting Powell as an outside receiver.
I spoke with Powell tonight since he's supposed to take a UT official visit either this weekend or next weekend for the USC game (he's hoping to hear on that tomorrow). He told me Texas has now been in contact with him about playing quarterback after Tim Beck got a look at his film.
Powell is athletic enough that he could wind up at receiver or DB in college, but it sounds like he'd get his first look at quarterback if Texas was able to land him.
