On CNN tonight, WaPo reporter Adam Entous said they've been working on the Sessions story since March, but were forced to "push it out" today due to fear that Sessions might resign or another paper might get the scoop. In other words, they ran with what they had, which wasn't much. The fact is they have no idea what Kislyak and Sessions spoke about.
It was more important to publish what they had, and spin it in the worst possible light, than to wait and try to get the whole story.
