Consider the moral standards of those in attendance. Not one gasp, boo, or hiss by the audience indicating a condemnatory reaction or disapproval of Willy's violent act when it occurred. Instead, silence - tacit approval; in fact, several in the audience provided emotional comfort to the man wearing the $10,000 tux that was the perpetrator of a violent crime. Proper codes of conduct don't apply.
As for Willy, he just proved that his ethics are no better than those of the smash-and-grab thugs or the June 2020 urban rioters down the street from where he lives. Only he gets the "privilege" of living behind a gate and wearing a $10,000 tux from time to time. But, at his ethical core, he just demonstrated he's no different. Not the kind of person I prefer to admire.
What would the audience's reaction been if it were Jon Voight, James Woods or Mel Gibson that punched Chris Rock? Nah . . . we won't go there.
