Many of you know my story. I am not Ellie. I was married for 21 years to her. She used to post on my account all the time. I rarely did.

About 7 years ago, we went through a really, really acrimonious divorce. I was in a very dark place. I was also diagnosed with something that I was told would likely kill me in 12-18 months.

Yes, I read the posts about other divorced guys going through hell on OB. I read about their loneliness and their mental health struggles. There were times my thoughts traveled down the same paths. Somehow though, through the grace of God I survived. My treatments worked and I regained my health. After years of therapy, evolving as a man and taking accountability and responsibility for my share in the failed marriage, I eventually found myself finding happiness in the simple things in life.

I started dating again. I went through a fair number of women, but I was a gentleman and realized I didn’t need a partner, but I was finally ready for one. And of course, that is when I found true love.

The woman I met and fell in love with is the woman I dreamed of marrying all my life. I could not be more blessed.

Here is the reason for my post…I know that there are many of us who go through hard times, difficult divorces, illness, lost jobs, (and not landing enough highly ranked blue chips! 😂) BUT, I am further proof that good things happen when you work hard on yourself, have faith in something bigger than yourself and evolve. Yes, EVOLVE. In my 50’s, I have changed nearly every single thing about myself. You can too.

We are getting married the first week in April in Costa Rica, our second home. Small, intimate wedding with only close friends and family.

I just wanted to share my news with my online family and thank almost all of you for helping me survive a dark chapter in my life. I’ve come out the other side happier than I’ve ever been, more in love than I’ve ever been (now knowing what real love feels and looks like!), more excited about my future than I’ve ever been and more grateful than I’ve ever been.

Thank you OB and Hook ‘em Horns!
