The Longhorns (21-6, 11-4) have an opportunity to redeem a somewhat disappointing season by upsetting the Bears (25-1, 15-0) tonight in Waco. Karen Aston's only victory against Mulkey came 2 years ago in the Ferrell Center.

Baylor has 4 players averaging double figures, led by C Kalani Brown's 15.7. PF Lauren Cox averages 9.2 rebounds while Brown's 7.7 is 2nd on the team. Baylor leads the nation in assists per game (23.3 in conference play) to 12.4 turnovers,

First Game: Texas jumped out to a lead by hitting 3s in the opening minutes but weren't able to sustain it, closing the 1st quarter down 7 but played even (17-17) in the 2nd quarter. Baylor jumped on the Horns coming out of the half, outscoring Texas 25-11 in the quarter. Playing with signifiicantly more intensity and focus in the 4th, the Longhorns rallied behind an 8-point run by Danni Williams in less than a minute. The comeback attempt ended when Chloe Jackson hit 2 FTs with 8 seconds left to close out the game, 74-68.

Stats:
  • Junior PG Sug Sutton leads the team in points (13.9 ppg), assists (5.3) and FG % (51.3).
  • Junior PF Joyner Holmes needs to have 2 good halves for Texas to have a shot. She is the 2nd leading scorer (12.5) and top rebounder (6.9) but she has to manage her turnovers better. Prior to Saturday's game against Tech, she was averaging 1 giveaway every 6.1 minutes during conference play but only recorded 1 against the Red Raiders in 20 minutes on the court.
  • Danni Williams is the 3rd leading scorer at 12.1 and is shooting a very impressive 47.5% from 3 (38/80) in Big12 play.

Bench player G Moon Ursin was a difference maker for the Bears in the first meeting - scoring 20 after contributing just 3.3 on the season. 4 Texas starters combined for 62 of Texas 68 points (Sug and Danni each had 19) in the first game but the only points off the bench were 6 from Mide Aborowa. Freshman PF Charli Collier played 10 minutes with 0 points and 2 rebounds in Austin. She has scored double digit points in 4 consecutive games (18-20 minutes/game) and needs to remain aggressive against the imposing Baylor frontcourt.
