Well we stayed at 7th. Oregon jumped to #6 after beating Utah. Don't look now but Alabama is now ranked 8th. The first playoff poll appears on Tuesday.
idk man Maalik for his first game i think was ok. He had maybe 4 bone head plays and one of them was the fumble that H.Conner just didnt block. A lot im hearing is how Conner is a liability on the oline. Dude has regressed a lot.
I think our defense will keep us in every game the rest of the season. 2 things will determine if we win or not. Win the Turnover battle and run for over 100 yards. Do that every game and you win.
brooks missed the block on the fumble-- i know it's easy to blame a lineman but brooks tried to sit and catch a charging defensive lineman... bad choice. if you watch the play, it may have been a td if it gets blocked.
4 bonehead plays by qb will likely get us beat this week. he needs to cut that in half, and hope the 2 bonehead plays aren't THAT boneheaded. but no, murphy AT THIS POINT is bad.

go and watch again i guess..that was Hudsons man and he was too slow to get over. Brooks was supposed to be the support not the entire block.
I agree. All they did was beat a 12th ranked team on national tv. By 29 points on the road. Otoh we beat BYU who beat a mediocre Texas Tech team last week.
Body of work. Bama. That's all. I will say that we have steadily declined since the bama game but still, we beat them on their field. Utah sucks
Utah is overrated. They are playing with their backup QB. Our best win is better than their best win.
Utah has been shredded by injuries. I would have liked to see them make it through the year healthy. I think they'd have had a decent shot at running the table in the Pac12.

Can I call you Pollyanna, Polly for short? I don't think anyone is saying that Ewers, Maalik, or the OL sucks. There are issues with some of the things all of them do. For the most part, it's youth and inexperience. The issue is the staff's use of these guys. For some time Baxter hasn't been doing well. I don't think anyone would say 4 yards per carry is good. He is too young. He needs some time in S&C.

A HUGE amount of ppl on this threat predicted Texas as a 8-4, 9-3 team.
a HUGE amount of ppl had us losing/ worried about the Bama game, the BYU game..hell even some the houston game. A lot picking us to lose..and We didn't.
we are 7-1. When was the last time you could sit back and say damn. My Horns are 7-1. Becuase i guarantee you didn't have us at 7-1 to start the year on your season predictions.

Ewers has a VERY talented arm. He makes some questionable throws from time to time.
Malik has a powerful arm. But right now, he's the black Ricky Vaughn.
The Oline sucks huge donkey dick when asked to run block on 4th and short/goal. Pass protection though, they've been better than expected.
Baxter has all the tools to be a 1000 yard back except--- toughness.
Ewers was on track for 3k yards and has only had what...3 INTS? Dudes been damn good besides understanding has not a damn rb.
Maalik hasnt really played in what...3 years? 2 1/2? First action and he gets a W.. against a BYU team that always seems to fk us. Kid isn't Ewers or anything but id take him today over Swoopes. He isnt as good as ppl were hyping him up to be and i think If Ewers doesnt come back this year we will lose at least 1 game because of him but for a freshman who has 0 experience. He wasn't GG bad...or Case McCoy...or Jerrod Harris....or Even Sam E his freshman year.
Baxter being a freshman to me gets a pass. He needs a offseason of lifting to let his balls hang.
Oline isn't the only issue on those 4th downs and goal line. Its the play calling is also an issue. But over all the running game has been miles above what most ppl thought it would be losing Bijan. So again a positive. I think we are ONE guard away from a dominate oline next year going into the SEC.
end of the day offense is still top 25 in MULTIPLE categories

I've always been worried about Kansas State. I think college football fans who really respect the game have admiration for Kansas State. Chris Klieman is a good coach. They gave us hell when the Big XII was formed. And although we've won the last 6 all of them went down to the last possession. We got lucky last year.
And I'm worried about the rest of the season. I feel we HAVE to win the Big XII in our last season we have to prove that we are ready for the SEC. I'm nervous but that's just me.

But you know who's in the catbird seat? Florida State. They don't play anyone that's really good and they can back into the playoffs. And ahead of 4 teams that are better.
And right now it looks like Michigan and Ohio State will be in the playoffs again. Stay tuned.
