Good grief. No way, no how Texas should be ranked #6 to start the season. Maybe around #15 to #17 at best. I'm not buying into any more preseason hype. I'll buy in when they show results on the field.
That ranking is purely for hyping the Bama game in week 2. That's for the TV networks and advertisers. It's not based on football. All marketing and build-up for an early season big game.

Objectively, we shouldn’t be in the pre-season top 25.
I don't even think we should be in the top 25 let alone the top 10. I never pay any mind to preseason rankings. If I remember right they had us ranked pretty high at the start of last season. Way to many what ifs this year.
I saw on ESPN they have an article ranking the BEST hs football prospect. NOT JUST THe BEST 23’ PROSPECT, just the best prospect in general, could be 24’, 25’ classes included too. In other words they like to just throw stuff up.

I’ll say this though. If Sark can produce anything close to a top 10 team next year. His 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes will be at a level Texas hasn’t recruited at in awhile.
I would say 8-9 wins probably doesn’t get you in the top 10. Honestly I think anything over 8 wins is a positive for this season. Next year should be the year where all the chips fall into place to make a run.
All that said they are going to have to prove it to me on the field before I buy in. I still think the defense is going to cost us 3 games at a minimum.
Probably going to take 10 games to get in to the top 10. And if you can win 9 games you can win 10, so we will see.
I don’t think they should even come out with the top 25 until October 1
Aggie mad they’re not Top 2 considering they finished the year No. 4, 2 years ago. They feel they really never got the recognition they deserved.
The best thing for Texas is either beat Bama or lose a close one. If you get blown out the pollsters will get stupid and knock you way down . The good thing is, it’s at the beginning of the year and won’t effect your conference record and teams still make the playoffs with 1 loss.

For me it comes down to this player development. We had the nations 5th ranked class but we always seem to have top 10 classes. What happened with the 2019 is inexcusable.
Look Sarkisian has a lot prove this year even more than the norm for longhorn fb. We had one of the worst defenses in school history, the worst ol in school history, and the longest losing streak in school history. I can't remember the details in the article I read but Sarkisian said he did not do a job communicating with the players. Wth? I mean we're paying this guy $10 million a year and then admits he didn't do a job communicating with his players?
What in the name of Darrell Royal is going on here? He must be turning over in his grave at what TX fb has become. After the KS we have reached a point where no game is a given.
